MatchMyDriver ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website matchmydriver.com (hereinafter referred to as the "Service"). MatchMyDriver also operates under the trade name De Taxiwijzer (detaxiwijzer.nl). This privacy policy applies to both brands. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service.
2. Data Collection and Use
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.
Types of Data Collected
Personal Data: While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). Depending on your role in using our service, we collect different information:
For visitors and customers looking for drivers:
- Name and contact details when submitting contact requests
- Messages sent via our chat platform
- IP address and device information
- Search preferences and filters
Clients Posting Ride Assignments
When you post a ride assignment via our platform, we collect the following data:
- Name, email address and phone number
- Ride details: pickup location, destination, waypoints (if applicable)
- Date and time of the ride
- Number of passengers and luggage details
- Driver preferences (e.g. wheelchair taxi, female driver, taxi-certified)
- Transport type (e.g. student transport, medical transport)
- Language preference (Dutch/English)
- Any additional notes or special requests
How we use this data:
- To make your ride assignment visible to registered drivers on our platform
- To enable drivers to place a bid on your ride, or show interest in fixed price assignments
- To send you the top 5 bids or interested drivers via email
- To provide the accepted driver with your contact details so they can get in touch with you
Data retention and deletion:
- Ride assignments are automatically deleted 28-72 hours after posting, depending on departure time
- Bidding periods vary from 1 to 100 hours depending on how soon your ride departs
- Upon deletion, all related bids are also automatically removed
- Your contact details are not retained longer than necessary to facilitate the ride
Important: MatchMyDriver is only responsible for the initial contact between you and the driver. Once contact is established, further communication and the ride itself fall under the terms of the chosen driver and not under our privacy policy.
For drivers with a profile on our platform:
- Name and contact details (phone, email)
- Business information (Chamber of Commerce number, company name)
- Address and province data
- Profile photo
- Date of birth and place of birth
- Website URL (if provided)
- Experience and certifications
- Vehicle details
- License categories
- Availability and rate information
- Professional qualifications
3. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected data for various purposes:
For all users of our Service:
- To provide and maintain our Service
- To notify you about changes to our Service
- To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Service when you choose to do so
- To provide customer support
- To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Service
- To monitor the efficiency of our Service
Specifically for driver profiles:
- To make your profile visible to potential customers
- To enable contact between you and interested customers, without directly disclosing your contact details
- To track statistics about profile views and contact requests
- To display your certifications, qualifications and expertise to potential customers
- To give you the option to hide certain personal information via privacy settings that can be adjusted by the administrator
- For promotional purposes, including social media posts, advertisements, newsletters and other marketing communications to promote both MatchMyDriver and your services as a driver
Driver Profile Visibility
As a driver on our platform, you agree that your profile information is publicly visible to potential customers, with the following details:
- Your profile can be viewed by anyone on our platform and found through searches
- Certain data (such as personal information, including your contact details and Chamber of Commerce number) can be hidden via privacy settings managed by an administrator
- Your certifications, qualifications, vehicle data and other professional information are always visible
- Your contact information is never shared directly with customers without your consent, but customers can reach you through our contact form or chat system
- Statistics are tracked to monitor the quality of our service, including: number of times shown in search results, profile views, contact requests, number of bids placed on ride assignments, and number of accepted bids
- All statistics and related data are completely and permanently deleted when your profile is removed by an administrator (for example, upon cancellation, abuse, or other reasons)
- MatchMyDriver may use your profile data for promotional purposes (social media, advertisements, newsletters). This use is always positive in nature and intended to promote both the platform and your services. Your profile will never be used or presented in a negative manner
4. Data Transfer
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.
If you are located outside the Netherlands and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to the Netherlands and process it there.
Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
5. Data Disclosure

MatchMyDriver may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation
- Protect and defend the rights or property of MatchMyDriver
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
- Protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public
- Protect against legal liability
6. Data Security
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Data Retention Periods (GDPR)
We do not retain your personal data longer than strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Below is an overview of our retention periods per data type:

Automatic Cleanup
To comply with GDPR, we automatically delete personal data that is no longer needed:
- Daily at 03:00 UTC: Contact forms and chat messages older than 30 days
- Every 15 minutes: Expired ride assignments and related bids
- Audit Trail: Each cleanup generates a report (without personal data) for our records
Note: Driver profiles are retained permanently until the driver requests deletion or the administrator removes the profile.
Sent Emails and External Processors
Important: We delete data from our own database according to the retention periods above. However, emails sent via our email provider (Bird/MessageBird) are retained according to their own retention policy:
- Ride assignment emails: Confirmation emails, top 5 bids, and acceptance emails are sent via Bird. These emails are retained by Bird according to their policy (typically 30-90 days)
- Driver registration emails: Confirmation emails are retained by Bird
- WhatsApp messages: Templated WhatsApp messages are sent via Bird WhatsApp Business API and are retained according to their policy
GDPR context: Bird/MessageBird acts as a "processor" under GDPR, and we act as the "controller". Bird has a data processing agreement with us and is GDPR-compliant.
